A specially developed food supplement designed to prevent Coprophagia, a condition whereby puppies and dogs consume their own stool, VetIQ Stool Repel tablets have been formulated to deter this behaviour, by making the dogs own stool unpalatable to eat.
A common habit in some dogs, Coprophagia can be distressing for both the pet and the owner, as well as unhygienic for the pet. It is not, however, a behavioural problem that owners and pets have to live with, with it being effectively rectified with the use of VetIQ Stool Repel tablets, in conjunction with other training methods/retraining.
What is Coprophagia? Coprophagia, however unpleasant, is not an abnormal behaviour for a dog. Bitches naturally consume their own pup’s faeces to keep the den clean and disease free in the wild to stop unwanted attention from potential predators – with both reasons providing a survival benefit. Also, many puppies go through an oral stage in which they taste and explore everything with their mouths, sometimes ingesting a variety of non-food items, including faeces. As time goes by, the majority of pups learn that food tastes better than faeces and they wean off the poo-eating habit, but some older puppies may continue to eat faeces for at least a few months. For those that don’t grow out of this habit, they are practicing Coprophagia, the practice of eating poo.
Specially developed as an effective behavioural aid in a convenient tablet form designed for daily feeding, VetIQ Stool Repel tablets are suitable for all dogs and puppies over 12 weeks of age, suitable for feeding whole or being crushed into food for increased palatability and ease of feeding. Containing active ingredients for reliable results, this special formula effectively deters a dog or puppy from eating its own poo, with added Capsicum Oleoresin, a lachrymatory agent/chemical compound that irritates the eyes to cause tears and mild pain. The active chemical within, capsaicin, causes a burning sensation and inflammation of the mucuous membranes. This is the active ingredient that helps to repel the animal from eating its own faecal waste. It also contains the enzyme, Alpha-Amylase, which breaks down the starches, helping to improve your dog’s digestive performance to make the dogs own stools less attractive to eat.
Designed to prevent the practice of Coprophagia for all dogs and puppies, VetIQ Stool Repel is best used in conjunction with a whole programme of prevention, for at least six months in order to completely break the habit of them eating their own faeces. Designed to help improve digestion and eliminate stool eating it helps to improve the general health and behaviours of your dog, deterring this unwanted and potentially problematic behaviour with ease. Feed daily for best results, using alongside effective training methods to prevent this behaviour long-term.
